Supporting Indigenous Legal Education
The Certificate in Indigenous Laws is the first program of its kind offered in French in Canada, providing Indigenous students with a pathway to university studies in law. Led by Atikamekw Nehirowisiw professor Eva Ottawa, this program acknowledges the unique challenges Indigenous students face and equips them with the foundational knowledge needed to navigate legal studies successfully. By exploring Indigenous legal orders alongside Canadian and Quebec legal systems, students gain a deep understanding of the principles and frameworks that shape both Indigenous and state-derived law.
Your support is crucial in ensuring that Indigenous students have the financial resources they need to pursue this transformative program. With your generosity, we can empower the next generation of Indigenous legal professionals, advocates, and leaders who will drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond. On this Giving Day, we invite you to invest in education, equity, and the future of Indigenous law.
